TITLE: Rivers of Living Water By Glen Spaugh 04/28/04 |

A thirsty soul came begging
All parched and dried from sin,
For something that would moisten
The desert deep within.
He was tempted by a bottle
Which cunningly did say,
“If you will just give me a try
your needs will go away.”
At the end of all the drinking
He could not find the peace,
That desperately he longed for
So his brokenness would cease.
Then he heard about some others wells
Placed along the road of life,
That promised to bring relief
From his never ending strife.
He tasted them as they appeared
And called for his attention,
Yet his soul was never satisfied,
His only feeling was contention.
Struggling to find a way
To bring it to an end,
He called upon someone he knew
That once had been his friend.
“The water that you’re seeking
Does not come from any well,
Nor from a source by human hands,
Now hear me in what I tell.”
“It’s source is in the Giver,
The one who died for you,
He alone can quench the thirsting,
He alone is someone true.”
So he fell down on his knees,
And tasted of His grace,
He found there is a river
Flowing from a heavenly place.
The Lord took up a pitcher
And poured it on the soul,
From head to toe it washed him
As the mercy river flowed.
He rushed to tell all those around
Including sons and daughters,
There is a well from which to drink
With springs of living water.
“He who believes in Me,
as the Scriptures has said,
out of his heart will flow rivers
of living water.” John 7:38 (NKJV)
