It is important for Christians to have endurance in our walk with God because it builds character and it pleases him. Endurance is the “stuff” that Christians are made of. God has done too much for us not to stay in the mission for the crown of life. He saved our souls from eternal damnation. The blood of Jesus is covering us from destruction of the world! Even if we do not get all of our desired prayers answered that is still no reason to quit on God. Eternal life is the key that each believer must lay hold of. In fact, Apostle Paul mentions in Phillipians 3:14, “ I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. We are empowered by the Holy Ghost to succeed in Jesus name. According to Phillipians 4:19, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”.
The devil our adversary is another reason why we must endure. He is author of sin and seeks to stop us quick in our walk with Christ. We must make a loser out of him because he is, and he has kept us in spiritual darkness for years. We know the truth now and the truth has set us free. We have to continue to operate in the truth. Peter said “Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”(1 peter 5:8). We are told to remain stedfast in the faith.
The Christian life is not supposed to be easy. We will be tested continually by some devil somewhere. The devil wants to throw us off course because there is a plan and purpose for our lives that must be fulfilled. Satan is not going to lie down and let us walk down easy street. He hates everyone especially Christians and will use unsaved people to destroy us. We are in a spiritual war for our souls. In John 16:33, Jesus said “In this world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer for I have overcame the world”.
I will conclude that all believers must hold fast the faith that was given to us by God through Jesus Christ. God says with out faith it is impossible to please him. King Solomon states:“ If ye faint in the day of adversity thy strength is small”(Proverb 24:10). Apostle John mentions: “For whatsoever is born of God over cometh the world: and this is the victory that over cometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4). According to John 24:13 Jesus says “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved”. Our mission is the crown of life. Are you ready to endure?
