He knelt by his bed and prayed. It was time to go to sleep. Turning the light off, he sank into his bed, contented. Within a few minutes he was fully asleep.
Another man. Another bedroom. This man lay down on his bed. His mind continued to work overtime as it were. What will happen to my stock? When will I be able to make my first million? Such thoughts continued to swarm his mind like impatient bees. Tossing and turning through the night, he became sleep-starved.
What a contrast? What is the secret? Do you want to know? Read on.
Life is difficult. Perhaps about half the people in this world are right now wondering where their next meal would come from. There a large number of others desperately searching for a job or a livelihood. Millions of homeless people are searching for shelter. All these needy persons have no chance to have peace. Or so it seems!
There are others, the more fortunate perhaps, in the here and now. Every need and every greed of theirs as it were is met fully. They have all what their hearts desire: a good job, housing, family and fame. Their bank balances are full. Living in palatial mansions, they seem to enjoy and indulge in every craving they have.
Do they have peace? May be they do? What do you think?
Strangely I found that peace, real inner peace is not dependent upon external circumstances. People who have this peace can be found in both the groups of people I have described. The peace that these people have is an inner peace. This inner peace comes from a choice they make, a relationship, and a right relationship with God.
Man was originally created to relate with God, His Creator. Unfortunately, sin cast a dark shadow between man and God. It became an impassable barrier for man. Man thus became estranged from God, an orphan in the cosmos. But wait a minute! There is good news. God loved people too well to let them go. He sent his son, His Only Begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us. (John 3:16).He was the only sinless man ever to walk on earth. And He loved us enough to die a shameful death for us on the cross. A death, he didn’t deserve at all!
A death he died to pay for all our sins. His blood shed for us on the cross frees us from the penalty of sin. That is salvation indeed. But how do we get it? You ask.
It can be very simply yours. Just by your choice. You can choose to be saved. In fact it is so simple that many turn away in astonishment. It is Free! All you have to do is to
• Confess that you are a sinner.(All of us on planet earth are sinners, Romans 3;23)
• Repent of all your sins.
• Ask the Lord to come into your heart and cleanse you from all sin.
And He will!
And then, only then can you have real peace, inner peace. A peace that is above your circumstances! I chose Him and so enjoy this peace. It comes directly from the Lord Jesus Christ who said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”(John 14:27)
Peace, real peace inner peace, unchanging peace, peace that matters is yours, just for the asking. Why don’t you, dear reader, choose peace?
