TITLE: Undying Hunger By Cynthia Stewart 11/15/04 |

First I tried complex foods, then something light, even a bit sweet. Maybe I was just thirsty! So I began to find things to drink. Water, no that didn’t sound good, Milk, just a little. I’ll sit down and have a soda or coffee sounds good, too.
Still I felt an undying craving to satisfy my hunger, but I didn’t really feel hungry anymore. Actually I felt a little nauseated. Yet, I was not satisfied to the point of stopping. I looked in every nook and cranny just to see if anything looked good. I nibbled on this and that, some things I swallowed and other things I spat out, Yuk!
Then I sat down, picked up my Bible and began to read. I started in Matthew. Here is what I read in Matthew 4:4:
But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'"
Then I read another verse. This time is was in John. This is what I read in
John 7:37:
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
That’s it! I was starving. I was starving with an undying hunger, but it wasn’t for food or drink, it was for God’s Word. My spirit was craving spiritual food, while my body was suffering from being stuffed! Only God could satisfy this undying hunger in me.
