TITLE: Poor State of mankind By James Welch 10/25/04 |

wetting appetite today
just a little problem with world peace
can I plague steeled streets without
suicide nomads marking territory
stealing hope in no brief execution
would Attila's of this parched soil
sail Magellan to earth's remotest region
where peace is not for sale
where those of equal yoke pace ignorance to test
they're clanging insolence, a remote knell/
stew-pid season has boiled all the continents
with shorn anarchy, leaving the exposed
reality of mans inhumanity to man
Cain-salesmen, murder-inablers, co-conspirators
nice people, you'd bring home
to dinner, some other time
was the exercise of intellect, left parentless children
was unbounded reason, left childless parents
or resolve to do the right thing, left the maim
bare handed:
rather take a leaf from a mature male gorilla having silvery hair across its back
rather pull a gazelle from a pride of starved lions/
rather stop a flow of lava with my forehead
would do all of these things blindfolded
than turn my back on jesus
I may not, can whick all the evil from this poor world
but history will mimic, I put up a Good fight
