TITLE: Dissatisfied and Disgruntled... By Judith Gayle Smith-Owens Vitouswykegardinerclark 10/11/04 |

Dissatisfied and disgruntled...
Better get dressed, wrestle with my hair, put on my face. Long sleeves to hide the fresh scratches from my last maniacal self-hate episode.
Dissatisfied and disgruntled...
Too warm for long sleeves. Tear through the closet to find a long narrow skirt to cover my legs - same reason. Hair too limp - falls prey to humidity.
Dissatisfied and disgruntled.
Find curly hair clip-on I bought through eBay for "wigging" my bald baby dolls while searching for hair doodads. Idea! Same color as my own hair! Clipped it on, anchored it with pins - voila! I am gorgeous! Why hadn't I thought of this before? Took quite a bit of time, but felt it was worth it to "glam".
Mike's rarin' to go - I can't get out the door fast enough. He has worked hard on a lamp for Henry - and we are off to the bank, then to Henry's - then grocery shopping. sigh. Unfun day.
Dissatisfied and disgruntled...
I have a brilliant thought! Mike could take me to the Goodwill on the way to Henry's apartment! Batted my eyes at Mike and sweetly suggested...Mike immediately negated my idea, saying he was not about to bring another piece of junk - usable or not - into our home!
Dissatisfied and disgruntled...
He finally acquiesced - saying that I could browse to my heart's delight - but I was to buy absolutely nothing. The joy is the hunt - so I happily accepted. Mike drove me to the Goodwill, removed my wheelchair from the trunk, and admonished me not to buy anything.
Dissatisfied and disgruntled...
I reached up to kiss him thank you - and he watched as I entered the store. I turned back and blew him a kiss...
I'm in "hog heaven"! My element! I headed straight for the stuffed toys - found an almost life-size Mama otter, holding her "newborn" baby on her stomach. Too adorable! Surely Mike would let me have this! Then I meandered through the pots and pans - and found a big, bright red stockpot/soup pot with a spigot! Perfect for Ron and his ministry to the homeless! And then - a beautiful brass three-tiered basket! Why, that would be absolutely perfect for hanging fruit and vegetables - or even plants! I am laughing with a gal plunked down on the floor because her knees ached. We take kitchen utensils and gadgets down from the overflowing shelves - agog over the variety of used food choppers and egg and apple peelers!
Suddenly a call goes out "Mrs. Smith - please come to the front of the store - your husband is waiting for you". Fun time is over. I know Mike will look at all this and pronounce it junk - worthless.
Dissatisfied and disgruntled...
I hold out for the stock pot for Ron - and as I open my mouth to cajole, Mike stops me with his urgency to leave the store.
Dissatisfied and disgruntled...
I thought he needed to use the men's room? Then he told me: "I had an accident - the car's totalled".
Thrusting away the cart, I let Mike push me outside where two tow trucks awaited. The front end was demolished. Both air bags were deployed. Mike was hit by an uninsured motorist. He looked to be somewhat in shock, but fully ambulatory.
Thank YHWH for HIS mercy and protection...
HE has so satisfied...
