TITLE: Yahweh’s Mercy

Her eyes appeared vacant and dead to the outside world. However, their appearance was deceptive. Images floated through her head. Beautiful pictures, full of vivid colors reeling the past like a movie played in her mind. Memories of an earlier period, of happy days encompassed her. She smiled. Old favorite tunes played in her psyche with the clarity of a fresh cut record. She hummed to the music. Life was good in this private, unseen world of hers.

Unnoticed to her, a team of people surrounded her, analyzing her, speculating on what had happened. “Poor woman,” they muttered among themselves, “just lost it all”. Tears fell from the faces of family members and friends as they were informed that she was unresponsive to treatment and that the prognosis for her recovery was nil. In all essence, her quality of life was over.

The last few years had been racked with misfortune and tragedy for her. It seemed as if one calamity after another struck her. Once a strong, determined woman, she slowly lost all strength and will power. Her mind, they explained had taken in more pain than it could manage and just simply switched off like a light switch.

Unknown to them, she had never lost her faith. She cried out to Yahweh to intervene and relieve her of this pain, to give her rest from the grief of this world and circumstances of her life. In His great mercy, Yah did just that. He wiped away her tears and replaced them with laughter. He erased the pain and replaced it with joy. He took away the turmoil and instilled her being with peace. With tenderness, He wiped away all essence of harshness. He gently replaced her world of fragility into a world of security. He gave to her a new quality of life.
