Jeremiah 45:5b
“When you are a soldier, I will be your shield. ‘Cause I know how it feels, when you are a soldier.” These are words to a song that echo through my heart today. God always ‘has our back’. He’s got us covered from all angles. “The Lord himself will go before you. He will not leave you or forget you” (Deut 31:8). I am constantly amazed by His faithfulness. Have you ever gone through trials and temptations, deep valleys and pain to come out on the other side? That place where you experience His overwhelming peace and comfort. He gives strength to those who are tired and more power to those who are weak” (Is 40:29). We sometimes see why it happened. Looking back, you see the other side of the tapestry and how God is going to use the pain and hurtful experiences to make something beautiful, not only for you, but for others. Let Him make you a blessing. You walked through it so that you could comfort others when they walk through that same valley. That valley may be death, illness, financial loss; whatever the situation, God is in control if you just let Him be.
I feel like I have finally come to the place where He would have me. I’ve been looking at the map and wandering through deserts to find my promised land across the Jordan. I feel like I made it home, to my place called “there” by the brook where abundance and blessings flow (I Kings 17). I feel so undeserving, but I am basking in His glory and presence. I’ve walked from the valley of turmoil to the peaceful place of being still before Him. The joy welling up inside of me is like a rushing waterfall that cannot be held back. I will not hold it back, but will let it flow and pour out. Hopefully, touching others and spreading peace and joy to others as it goes. Do not get me wrong; I have not arrived. I have just located the place where I should have been all along, and it feels great. I do not want to move or go anywhere unless He moves me there. I am so thankful for His awesome presence.
Reaping not only what we sow, but also what his merciful hand bestows
Ever pressing towards the upward call
Willing, at his feet to lay down my all
Always seeking to be filled with His fullness
Reverencing him who is holy and just
Daily learning to practice His presence
Serving Him until at His feet I bow
One day all believers will bow at his feet and lay their crowns before Him. What a glorious day that will be. Right now, I want to be like the Proverbs 31 lady who is a wife of noble character and a mother. She receives the rewards she has earned in verse thirty-one. “Children are a reward from the Lord,” (Psalms 127:3). God has richly blessed me with three wonderful children. While pressing on, I will enjoy the benefits of His peace, strength, love, steadfastness, and His presence.
