for I’m drowning
in its despair.
Cover me
with your Son shine
and dry these
flowing tears.
I’ve been
a barren wasteland
and I cried
for your relief.
Now flowing
with emotion
I’m entrenched
in Your belief.
Lord, let the rain stop
these tears
unworthy cries.
For so ashamed
of what I’ve become
the rain falls
from my eyes.
Lord, let the rain stop
for my grief
I can not bear.
Though years I knew
of You
I lived
without a care.
Lord, let the rain stop
my soul is parched
and dry.
For so many sins
the tears flow
and the well
is running dry.
The Lord let the rain stop
when I cried
in my repentance.
Feeling just a slight
amount
of what brought
His earthly sentence.
The Lord let the rain stop
when self reliance
was no more.
When I had given
to the Son
all I had been
before.
The Lord let the rain stop
when no more
I was my own.
The Lord let the rain stop
when I accepted
His blood born home.
