I was once deeply depressed, and with that came many sleepless nights. I laid down to sleep, but sleep would not come. I had no idea what to do, then I heard someone say, ‘meditate on the Scriptures. Well, I figured I had nothing to loose, so as my mind began to wonder, I began meditating on God’s words. Of course, some nights sleep was more difficult to come by, but I continued to mediate on God’s word.
As the weeks turned into months, resting in the Lord brought me such peace.
I’m reminded of the picture where Jesus is seeing holding a lamb in his arms. Isn’t that how he holds his children? He tells us that the Good Shepherd watches over his sheep, and with that comes peace and rest.
Knowing that the Lord is taking care of his children no matter what the circumstance brings much comfort. The natural eyes will always deceive us, but remembering that God is in control will nullify any discouragement that the enemy will try to rest on us.
Resting means that we’re trusting God, and if we are trusting God then we know that God’s Will, will be done in our lives.
