TITLE: A Net of Love By Tracey Borer 06/07/04 |

When I feel uncertain about something I have done I seek out others who I’ll know will like it, I like to fish for compliments. When I doubt my place in the world I read the autobiography’s of great people who have suffered much more than me, just to let me have a better place and world to live in, fishing for security works too.
But when I want to know the truth, this is when I become a truly great fisher, for this is when I turn to my bible. I take my rod (any questions I need answered) hook on some bait (the themes I need to learn about) and I cast out. I cast out more than questions I cast out the negativity that day-to-day life brings and reel in the truth, about God and his love and his plan for us all.
Although there’s something important to remember about this type of fishing, it works in the exact opposite way of real fishing.
You see if you were really to sit at a riverbank or sea edge and fish; it's the big whoppers that matter the little ones can be thrown back, this doesn’t work with the bible. Once in a blue moon we may get a really big whammy of an epiphany, a Paul on the road to Damascus sized epiphany, and these are the ones we shout to the world and our friends and exclaim hallelujah for. But the little ones we get each day, the ones that warm our souls and we cherish, for that little bit of insight the Holy Spirit has revealed to us, we rarely appreciate fully.
This is what those little moments of truth do, when we allow more of those little moments in they become a net around us, a net god is patiently holding. For if you think any mortal is a good fisherman you should see God at work
He sits and watches over us all, throwing out his bait of truth hoping to catch another person in a net of love. Its not as easy as it looks, he has to wait every second of our life and watch every little moment, till the chance comes for him to bring us out and closer to him. He knows when we have grown mature enough in wisdom that we can survive out of the pond with the others and can join him, or if we need longer to grow as Christians. And through it all he waits for us in heaven, on an eternal river bank with an earth sized net and an infinite amount of patience.
