I could smell the air of the Galilee
Hear the waves crashing upon the land
Watch the seagulls diving for clams and fish
And the grass waving in the spring breeze.
I sat daydreaming along the Sea Of Galilee
In my dream I was Simon and Andrew
Casting nets into the sea
For they were fishermen.
Jesus said to them
Come follow me
And I will make you fishers of men
Immediately they followed.
Here I met Jesus face to face
I asked the Lord to lift my heart
To give me strength to face each day
To know that He is near.
With a song upon my lips
With words from my mouth
Joy in my heart
I praised His Holy Name.
I too became a fisherman that day
As I raised my fly rod
I cast my soul into the air
God enriched my heart anew.
As I reeled my line back in
On the hook I found many gifts
Love, joy, peace, understanding
Long suffering, patients and kindness.
As I was reveling in what I had caught
Jesus said to me in a voice sweet and low
"Come follow me, be my deciple
And I will make you a fisher of men."
What does it mean to be a "fisher of men"?
"Go tell others about Me
Tell them the story of salvation
So that they too might be saved."
But what kind of bait do you use to catch men?
God's Word was all He said
I want to be a fisher of men
That all my follow you.
He said, "You are the body of Christ
You are loved by God
You are called to help others
Spreading God's redeeming love.
I prayed help me save a soul today
Help me to become a good fisherman
To go forth telling others about you
That they will know and follow you.
Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19
