Closing my business last year was very difficult. I felt that God had opened this door for me to own my own boss, and here I was – closing my doors. Why would God allow this to happen? I felt confused at times, I had no idea of what God wanted me to do now that my business was closed

I asked God many questions in prayer. ‘Lord, I thought this was what you wanted me to do with my life?’ It made no sense to me; but thank God that his thoughts are higher than mine, and that my ways are not his way.

My church met every morning for prayer so I decided that I would spend time in prayer until God showed me exactly what he wanted me to do. Of course I had bills that needed to be paid and this concerned me greatly. (many, due to the business.)

You see, I could not see the outcome with my natural eye. It made no sense to me, but again the scriptures says, ‘I serve a God who is able.’

I began sharing with my husband that I had no idea how I was going to pay bills. He lovingly asked, ‘how much do you need?’ I replied with an amount, and then I was blown away, when he said, ‘okay, I’ll give it to you tomorrow.’
“Wow God, you are awesome! Then I heard in my spirit, ‘you have not because you ask not.’ Okay God, help me to ask and keep asking.

I celebrated each week as my husband faithfully gave me money to cover bills. For six months, God used my husband week after week to cover bills. A few times arose where I needed additional funds, God showed me ways of earning an income.

I loved to cook, so I began cooking meals for some families in the church on the weekend. It gave me some extra money to cover some bills. The word of God says, whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might; that is exactly what I had to do.

I began seeking the Lord in prayer, and waited for him to open another door. Well, God has now opened another door at my daughter’s school, where I now work. I realized that God and God alone opened this door; he tells us that he will open a door that no one can shut, and isn’t that a great feeling knowing that our father in heaven is opening and closing doors, he has our best interest in mind.
