The epitaph on his gravestone read—
“Pause my friend as you pass by,
As you are now, so once was I,
As I am now, so you will be,
Prepare my friend to follow me.”
A passing one as he looked at this
Saw a crucial point the author missed,
So underneath he wrote this verse,
Right to the point, succinct and terse—
“To follow you is not my intent,
Until I know which way you went.”
There are two roads which one can take—
Decision everyone must make,
One road is narrow, one is wide,
Both take you to the other side,
But the terminus is not the same
Despite what most religions claim.
The narrow road leads one to God
This is the way that Jesus trod;
To walk this road one must repent,
Believe in Him Whom God has sent,
His Spirit then will take His place
Within your heart—Amazing grace!
The road that’s wide attracts the throng,
The masses blindly rush along,
They do not have an end in view,
Are blind to where they’re headed to—
Turn back before it gets too late!
Enter in at the narrow gate.
Then your epitaph might one day be—
“ Pause my friend as you pass by me,
As you are now, so once, was I,
Make peace with God before you die,
And may it be your heart’s intent
To go with me where Jesus went”.

The organization is excellent. The poem is cleanly split into three logical movements: acknowledging the cemetery verses, outlining the two paths, and presenting the final call to action.
