The two superpowered foes found themselves in transparent cylinders, and a voice came over a speaker. “You two are the strongest humans on your world. I want to learn the secret of your strength, to enhance my soldiers' power.”
Lion Lord prayed, "Allah, preserve me and the secret of my strength.”
Diamond said nothing, however when two feathered aliens with large wings came to the cylinders, he prepared himself to fight. He noticed Lion Lord doing likewise. The voice came over the speaker again, “Do not resist or we will kill an innocent person for each injury my troops suffer.”
Diamond meekly went with the soldiers. After a moment of hesitation, so did Lion Lord.
After being marched through the ship, they were seated in chairs with various sensors attached to them. A bright light shone over the two foes. As the guards released them, the voice spoke again. "Interesting. The pale one is genetically modified. The dark one’s metabolism is enhanced chemically.”
The captives were locked in a cell with a metal door. The voice spoke again. “I’m certain you will want to try and escape, but the door is collapsed ininertron. You will not be able to break it, since I have calculated your limits.”
Diamond spoke quietly to Lion Lord. “Your powers come from some sort of drug, right? Maybe if I use it, my strength will increase. Worth a try, huh?”
Lion Lord started to reach for a pouch on his belt, then stopped. “These power pills were specifically designed for my metabolism. There's no way I can predict what will happen to you.”
Diamond responded, "Worse thing that could happen is I die, and as Paul said, ‘To live is Christ and to die is gain.’ So let’s at least try.”
Lion Lord reached into the pouch and removed one pill. “This particular one gives me my powers for four hours. It's the lowest dose. I don’t really want to kill you, just have you submit to Allah.”
Diamond took it and shrugged. "Well, here goes nothing.”
Lion Lord watched silently as his foe swallow the little pill. The result was as instantaneous for Diamond as it was for him. Immediately he found himself sharing the cell with a diamond covered elephant. Diamond wrapped his new trunk around a bar and pulled.
To Lion Lord’s shock, the bar came free. Diamond went to work on the next one as Lion Lord observed, “Guess you’ll be alright. I don’t like helping an enemy, but I can see the logic of working together.”
Three bars later, Diamond had a gap wide enough for his new body to get through. He asked, “How do I get back to normal?”
Lion Lord didn’t want to give him the reversal pill, so he lied, “Wait four hours and it should wear off.”
The two animal themed partners went in search of the teleportation device that had brought them there.
After exploring several levels, they were confronted by the owner of the voice that had been speaking to them, a powerfully built eagle-like alien. “I see that I should have started with two lesser specimens. I really did not think anyone could have broken out of your cage. It shows cooperation, which makes your species even more dangerous than I thought.”
Diamond trumpeted, "Your big mistake was underestimating human ingenuity.”
Lion Lord growled, “Unless you want to see how lions deal with birds, you must return us home immediately!”
“Why not? I have the data I need on your abilities. I’ll take you to the teleportation chamber, but the large one won’t fit.”
Diamond shot back, “Find a way, and lose that data, or I’ll see what else I can break before returning to normal.”
The eagle-being said, “I do not think so. I have two of your fellow combatants in teleportation abeyance. I doubt you will chance disrupting the system that is keeping them alive.”
Lion Lord saw they were at an impasse. “Diamond,” he quietly said as he took two more pills from his belt, “Take the blue one to return to human form. Yes, I lied before. The green one should restore your elephant form.”
Diamond did so, and a moment later the rivals were back on earth fighting again.
