There is biological life in the fetus in the womb as of the moment of conception.
Like a planted seed hidden in the ground, we do not see this taking place, but the reproduction process has already begun. Until birth, this life form is sustained by the mother.
As the fetus develops, it is capable of being terminated by miscarriage or physical trauma. The fetus can respond to various forms of stimuli produced by the mother (1), or sources from outside of the womb.
Up to this point there is no biological difference between the reproductive process in human beings and many of the animal life forms.
The moral difference is the timing and circumstances under which the process begins.
“Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge (Hebrews 13: 4 NASB1995).”
At birth, the physically-alive fetus, is “brought forth” through the birth canal (or taken by Caesarean section), and takes in its first breath of natural life, then being independent of the mother’s life-support system.
At birth, something else takes place that makes a difference between the birth of a human being and the birth of animal species. That something else is the creation and the placement of the soul and spirit.
This is the work of God.
If Man were not given a soul, he would be no more than a relatively-intelligent animal, void of spirituality, with no eternal future, as atheists believe to be the case.
According to Gen. 2: 7, it is when the first breath of natural life is received, that the unborn fetus becomes a living soul, as God places the soul and spirit, that He creates (2), into the body that the biological parents produced.
The difference between Adam, Eve, and their offspring (us), was, and is, the ways in which their/our bodies came into existence.
Upon taking his or her last breath, the body dies, and the soul departs (3) the body.
Life after physical death is not a matter of IF, but a matter of WHERE and HOW each departed soul WILL spend ALL of eternity.
Neither the biological father nor the biological mother has any part in the creation or placement of the soul (4). This is the work of God.
However, by the choices (5) that each individual soul makes during his or her lifetime, he or she self-determines where and how God will have him or her experience all of eternity future.
As of the Fall of Man, the offspring of Adam and Eve, inherited a major problem.
We come into this world with a body that is physically alive, but headed for physical death. We come into this world with a soul that will live forever, but whose eternal location and experience is yet to be determined. We come into this world with a spirit that exists, but is dead in its relationship with God. We come into this world with a nature that is hostile (6) towards God and the things of God.
This is where the need (7) to be born again comes into the picture.
Until one is born AGAIN, he or she remains unborn in the eyes of God, as far as the SECOND (required) birth is concerned.
We come into the world separated from God.
Those who choose to leave this world still separated from God, will spend all of eternity future in what the Bible calls the Lake of Fire, after the Rev. 20: 13 -15 event takes place.
Nicodemus, being an adult and a Pharisee, would have been well familiar with the Old Testament Scripture concerning the origin of Man, the creation, placement and departing of the soul, and the mechanics of the human reproductive system.
But he did not understand what Jesus meant when He spoke of being born AGAIN (8).
No amount of religious activity, good behavior, or good deeds will result in one being born again.
One is born again IF and when he chooses to believe in a presentation of the unadulterated Gospel Message, encapsulated in such verses as John 3: 16, 18.

Sometimes I like to 'catch' the reader's attention (although usually not very skilfully), and your entry certainly had me sitting up.
