Responding to his wife’s wise counsel, he stood and walked to the door, and was greeted by a couple inserting a key into the lock. Deciding that someone had somehow gotten lost, he put on a friendly smile and opened the door to the sight of a slim muscular Hispanic man, and a woman who could be his twin sister.
The woman spoke first. “Who are you, and what are you doing in our house?”
Rex raised his hands in a calming motion and responded, “I have no idea who you are, but this is my house.”
The woman turned towards the man. “Roberto, I am getting past this intruder and…”
Roberto spoke calmly. “Rita, our ‘secrets’.”
Rita shot back “Cover me, then.”
Roberto gestured like Rebecca would have, and a wall of water came up out of the sprinkler, while Rita’s skin turned diamond, just like Rex’s could. Rex decided that he should go diamond too, and at the thought his costume materialised on him as well. Rita looked shocked at his transformation. She relaxed into her human form and raised her hands. “Look, we don’t want any trouble, but tell us how you have powers like mine and a suit like mine too.”
Rebecca had come up quietly behind Rex and said something in Spanish. An instant later the water wall vanished.
Roberto told Rebecca, “You are the same as me, except you are a woman, and this gentleman is like my wife. I am starting to wonder if we are really at the right house.”
Rex reached for his phone and called the Speedster’s civilian idenity, as he was getting a similar suspicion. A moment later the yellow and indigo form of the Speedster was in the Brand’s living room. Rebecca offered her guests coffee and they all sat in the living room while Speedster asked Rita and Roberto to explain the last thing they remembered.
Roberto answered, “Mariner and I were battling the Drainer when she fired a strange ray at us.”
Speedster and Diamond shared a glance while Rebecca responded, “She? Drainer is a man.”
Speedster responded to her friend, “In this reality, yes he is. I suspect that Drainer’s ray shunted this Diamond and Mariner to our reality. Diamond, what is the real name of Megawatt?”
Rita shrugged, “Dana Wolfe. Why?”
Speedster grunted before responding, “It appears that the two of you are from an alternate reality where the genders of this reality are swapped.”
“OK, Speedster, if we accept that,” shot Rita, “how do you propose to get us home?”
Rex chimed in, “While it would be nice to have another Diamond and Mariness around, I suspect these folks want to get back to their lives. Do you suggest we bust our Drainer out of prison?”
“No, Rex,” Speedster smiled back at him, “what I was thinking of doing is vibrating while touching them and seeing if I could find the correct frequency to return your guests home.”
Putting action to her words, Speedster took Rita’s and Roberto's hands and began vibrating. An instant later, the three of them flashed out of existence.
A moment later, Speedster slowly stopped vibrating. The first thing she saw was several other gender swapped Light Force heroes taking down Drainer.
Amazing Man looked over at the returning heroes and asked, "Where'd you go, and who is this cosplayer dressed up as Speedster?"
Diamond was as aggressive as in Speedster’s home universe. "Relax, bub,, this is the Speedster from another dimension, the one this creep slammed us into.” Gesturing to Drainer, “She helped us get back."
Speedster joined the conversation. "I'd love to stay and learn about the differences between our separate realities, but I need to get home myself."
Speedster relaxed herself into the familiar vibrational pattern of home and an instant later she was back in Rex’s and Rebecca's house, just in time to hear a police scanner report that Drainer was causing trouble in their universe.
