Object of scorn to people passing by,
Bloodied and bruised, before the world displayed—
In that gruesome place sins awful price was paid.
Alone He was because no other man
Could pay the price of judgement’s strict demand,
He took our place as perfect sacrifice,
His precious blood was shed to pay that price.
Unknown to rulers and and the fiends of hell,
In killing Him sound out their own death knell,
God’s wisdom from before the world began
Perfected as they carried out His plan.
One day you’ll stand before the great white throne
If you’re unsaved, standing all alone,
The opened books show debt of sin unpaid—
Is there a way this judgement might be stayed?
Good news I bring! —Good news for you today,
Through Christ’s shed blood God’s made a perfect way,
But it’s up to you and to you alone—
Believe in Christ and all your judgement’s done.
Alone you stand, alone you must decide
But know—So you might live, Christ our Saviour died,
Don’t emulate the scorners passing by
But look to Him alone—our God Most High!
