For restless hearts in life’s bustling race,
Way beyond our reach it well might seem
But I have found there is such a place.
A tranquil place where my soul’s at rest
Far from the din of the madding throng,
A soul long wearied and oppressed
Now filled with light and a joyful song.
This blissful place is no mystic quest,
Is within the reach of all mankind,
Not vacant space but enlightened rest
Where we can have perfect peace of mind.
Through an open door He bids you come
(Lay your load of weariness aside)
To the peace of God no mind can plumb
Where the hearts at rest in Him abide.
An uneasy peace is this world’s best
Whose peace is but a passing whim
Where the troubled heart can know no rest
But no restlessness resides in Him.
In Jesus Christ there is perfect peace
Far beyond where mortal minds can go;
A soul at peace means a heart at ease—
A place of rest we all can know.
A place of rest where we can go.
