God alone
is worthy of
glory and honor,
praise and worship.
He is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control.
Jesus, love in the flesh,
while we were still in sin.
I observe
Your kindness,
hear your wisdom.
Your fruit look good
from where I stand.
Would that change if
we drew closer together,
or are you truly further
along in sanctification?
Would your pedestal crumble?
You watch
as I serve,
you listen
as I respond.
It makes you think,
perhaps grow in faith.
Would that change if
we drew closer together?
Do not elevate me upon
a pedestal reserved for God.
Those
who know
me well would not
be fooled for they
know I am churlish,
critical, prideful,
impatient, and selfish.
Amazingly, God knows,
yet loving me, as only
He can do. He sees me
justified, washed by
the blood of Jesus.
But when you see,
me toppled over
will you choose
love?
