That I took along with me,
Though contents were not on display
For everyone to see.
I’d packed all my anxieties,
Arranging them just so,
As close together as could be,
Not knowing how they’d grow.
So then with shoulders weighted down,
Each day I trudged along
And wondered as I went my way
If I’d done something wrong.
I had a number of good friends
Who offered to give aid,
But no one else could carry cares
That were in my mind made.
Discouragement stayed close at hand,
No matter where I’d go.
I tried to keep that under wraps
So no one else would know.
Then finally, in my distress,
I sought the Savior’s face.
He reached and took my heavy load,
Exchanging it for grace.
I’ve problems still as all folks do,
But I am not alone,
For Jesus walks along with me,
Makes my despair His own.

Congrats on your EC.
I prefer to write poetry in the classical style too, being brought up by a writer. It's more of a discipline than free verse, isn't it!
You kept to the meter well most of the time, but I stumbled over a few words in certain places, and lost the rhythm a bit when I read it.
Otherwise, very nice.
