“Go love your neighbour” I heard Him say;
But I can’t do it—there’s no way;
To even try, I’m not inclined,
I think I’m not the loving kind.

Who is my neighbour? Those next door?
Indeed it’s those but many more—
It’s all we meet on Jericho Road
The young, the old, the bent and bowed.

How can I love such reprobates?
I know it’s what God advocates;
I have no issue loving those,
My friends, to whom I’m predisposed.

But His command is crystal clear,
It bothers me it’s so severe;
I cannot see how I can do
What I don’t have the power to.

That’s where the pow’r of Christ comes in
If we repent and turn to Him;
He’ll change the heart, so long stone cold,
Bring life and love into the soul.

His life within will give us love
For friend, for foe, for God above
And by His grace we’ll gladly do
The things His Word commands us to.


Hebrews ch 8:10—“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God and they shall be my people”. NKJV

Ezekiel ch 11:19—“Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of
flesh”. NKJV
