When will the rapture lift us out?
We try to solve this riddle.
And yet, no matter when this comes, of this you can be clear
At trumpet sound we'll be caught up to Jesus in the air.
Let's get back to basics.
Should we use the Old King James
Or look to something newer?
Are the many versions right
Or should there just be fewer?
Whether 'Thee' or simply 'You', simply 'are', or 'art'
Jesus is the Living Word who'll speak into your heart.
Let's get back to basics
Should we say the sinner's prayer
Or simply call to Jesus?
Are the words the things that save
Or asking God to heed us?
No matter --- most importantly, our motive must be right;
Jesus saves repentant hearts and makes their future bright.
Let's get back to basics
What about the thousand years
Has that already past?
Or can we still expect a time
When Satan is unfast?
Whatever you believe on this, of this you can be sure
If you hide yourself in Jesus, you will be secure.
Let's get back to basics.
Should the organ fill the air
With praise, in psalms and hymns?
Can the church be truly church
With strumming strings and drums?
Exuberant with dance, or wanting quietness from the start
What God's really listening for is the music of your heart.
Let's get back to basics.
Should you wear a suit to church
To show respect and awe?
Or can you come just casual
'Cos He loves you as you are?
Whatever your opinion on this, here's the bottom line
If your motive's love for God, then any way's just fine.
Let's get back to basics.
In a Body so diverse
We're bound to disagree
But if we stick to basics
Of division we'll be free.
That Jesus is both man and God who died and rose again
To set us free from sin and death to Christians should be plain.
All else is trivial next to this and is not worth a rift
How can we quarrel after being graced with such a gift.
