Why they are the way they are?
Or consider other animal’s
Behavior most bizarre?
Do they ever think “How strange!”
That crocs consume whatever moves
No matter how they travel—
By paws or feet or hooves?
Would they ever ask the wallaby
Why they can chomp on anything that grows
And love the different garden plants
Lined up like dominoes?
Do koalas choose to sleep all day
So they can wake at night
To their favorite moonlit meal,
A eucalyptus tree delight?
Do Koalas ever wonder
Why they never have to share
Or do they know the leaves they love
Poison most who don’t beware?
Has a joey ever challenged
His mother’s menu of the day
And thought it might be nice
To try a different tree today?
Do koalas ever wonder
Why they only like one kind
Of the hundred thousand trees to choose
And never change their mind?
Have you ever thought
You know someone as picky as can be?
Just remember God designed koalas
And gave them a treasured tree.
