Composed and arranged by the Great Conductor.
The prelude in dreamlike sequence
Resonates with hope and joy.
Then begins the song with brilliant jazz chords,
Bursting with passion.
As years go by, the chorus modifies
With sometimes one key stronger,
The counterpart augmenting,
Until comes a reversal of roles.
This composition takes many forms,
Varying from lilting love songs
To serenades, lullabies, ballads, hymns,
And occasionally, a dirge.
This union emits a multitude of sounds:
Simple and sweet,
Mournful and plaintive,
Raucous and roaring,
Charming and cheerful,
Radiant and beautiful,
Tender and loving—
Each one a part of the same grand score.
When the sonnet is found to be in tune,
The notes are most mellifluous,
But dissonance is discord’s result.
No matter the improvisations until the postlude,
Whenever the Great Conductor leads,
The marriage melody is sweet with harmony
With voices of the duet blending
Into a lifelong concert.
