But nothing keeps his spirit down;
He pens a letter to exhort
The saints who occupy his heart
Though he and they are far apart.
In dream from God ten years before
A Macedonian implored
That he should come— they needed aid;
Paul saw an entrance heaven-made,
A call from God which he obeyed.
And though the foe worked all his might
He couldn’t quench the gospel light;
First church in Europe there began
A beachhead into other lands;
From Philippi God’s grace expands.
Paul wrote his letter to express
His love to them, his thankfulness,
Exhorted them so tenderly
To lives of love lived joyously,
To wait for Christ expectantly.
Two thousand years have come and gone,
The church of Christ continues on;
Paul’s mail to them is now for us—
God’s Word which we should love and trust,
No part of it superfluous.
Each day that passes, without fail
I check my letterbox for mail;
There’s always post God’s Spirit sends
Through Paul and other’s inspired pens,
Mail, that time and space, transcends.
In the letter wrote to Philippi,
He wrote as well to you and I;
A timeless letter to inspire
To faith and hope, set hearts on fire—
Oh lift us Lord! Higher, Higher.

Thank you for this delightful entry and nice piece of work. As you can see it is right up my alley, so to speak. I pray that it will bless others as it has me.
