Not to be outdone Heavsprit readied his fangs. When he smiled his face contorted into a gruesome mask featuring his extended yellow teeth. “I bet I could do one of those toothpaste commercials. Ba-zing! See how they shine like the morning star.” He sank the razor incisors into the fleshy part of the woman’s neck. What little resolve for attacking the day she had dissipated in the heaviness of her spirit. She sighed. “I can’t do anything today; not even read my Bible.” Her attacker jumped up and down with excitement from his daily fix.
“You guys got nothing. Let me show you how it’s done.” Deppdown unsheathed his nails with each popping out like switchblades. He raked them down the front of her chest. She placed her hand over the open spiritual wounds. “I’m so depressed. I wish I felt better.” Her poor husband patted her arm in sympathy. He’d lived with Angie’s issues for years and had nothing new to say. Deppdown crowed to his companions, “Watch what happens next.” The woman’s overweight body caused her to struggle with the simplest task. With great effort she pushed out of the recliner and dragged herself to the bathroom. She took out a vial of antidepressants and downed several. The mirror reflected an unhealthy face with puffy, pale cheeks and a hopeless, confused expression. She shook her head in despair. The demon threw back his head and caricatured ripping open his shirt to reveal the Superbeast insignia therein. “Power, baby. That’s what I’m talkin’ about.”
Watching from on high two angels spoke in whispers. “She needs prayer and deliverance.” “Does anyone not know her plight?” “They believe she is simply lazy and haven’t considered the spiritual aspect of her condition.” “They accept the depression and heavy spirit because so many people around them are likewise afflicted.” “Let us bring her before the Father. Perhaps He will raise up prayer warriors to intercede on her behalf.”
Not long after that two pastors driving back from a prayer breakfast began discussing some the people they had lifted up that morning before the Lord.
“I’d love to see Tom healed. Wouldn’t it be great if his cancer just disappeared? That would blow away the doctors.”
The older man driving nodded. “God healed Max of his diabetes – medically certified. All things are possible.”
“What’s with Angie?” The younger pastor rubbed the back of his neck. “I don’t know what to think. She reads such garbage. Remember that erotic novel last year that was all the rage? I couldn’t believe she’d consume trash like that, but it wasn’t a one-off. She’s read that stuff for years.”
“A thought popped into my mind; completely out of the blue.” The older pastor spoke while concentrating on the road. “What if she’s demonically oppressed?”
“My wife said something about that. I forgot all about it.” The younger man paused. “You know, I think the Holy Spirit just overwhelmed me with absolute certainty that Angie needs deliverance.”
The men spoke to their wives. Both couples fasted and prayed for three days, then gathered in the church with Angie. They proposed restoring the kingdom in her life by force. She was a believer and readily said yes.
It took hours of prayer in the Name of Jesus but eventually the demons left shrieking, pursued by angels with slashing swords. Angie blinked. A sparkle came to her eyes. Surprising everyone, including herself, she jumped up. Right before them her body flesh contracted leaving her clothes loose and hanging. She took a tentative step, then danced for joy. “I can move. The rock on my chest is gone! I have energy. It’s a miracle!”
In the days ahead Angie’s vigor astounded everyone. No one expected much. Her reputation preceded her. But she was free. Now she served with tireless abandon.
Her guardian angels sheathed their swords and cheered her on.
