I was right there with Ardy, cold and fighting the snow--and getting a bit scared of the approaching nightfall. Loved these characters and the sweet way you wrapped up this endearing entry.

Ardy and Jeb were interesting characters. It reminded me a little of some of Jeanette Oke's pioneer stories.

This story kept me hanging on every word. I love the suspense, the dialog, and the descriptive words. I hate being cold, so I was really feeling it!

A wonderfully graphic snapshot of life in the Rockies, but your descriptive language carries a deeper sense of mutual respect and hope.
Great work.

A most enjoyable read where the characters rang true. I had to google Ptarmigan and found out about Ptarmigan Peak - that's because I'm an Australian! Great writing!

This had so much intensity and warmth, in spite of the snow. Well done! As we say downunder 'That was grouse - a bagful!"
