I often do advise;
“Depend on Him Who has control,
Who cares and is so wise.”
I gave away my life to Him,
Submitting to His grace;
He’s never disappointed me,
My sins He has erased.
It’s very easy to suppose
I have MY ducks in rows;
Pointing at others with their flaws,
On THEM I try control.
Restraining others is a crutch
To keep me from seeing
My own mistake and selfishness
That binds my whole being.
It seems there’s always more to give,
Bad habits glued inside;
Those hidden faults I wrestle with
And fail to put aside.
Obedience and thankfulness
To my Lord and Savior;
Surrendering my weaknesses
And my bad behaviors.
Submitting to God’s plan for me,
A privilege and choice
To lead me on to holiness,
Straining to hear His voice.
Giving up what I think is mine
For His use to others;
Watching, waiting for His guidance;
Serving, loving, brothers.
Yielding up my hoarded talents
(God-given at the start)
Giving Him glory for their use,
Seeking lost souls and hearts.
Independence oft’ misleads me
To self-sufficient aims,
Forgetting at times, it’s not me—
But He—Who holds the reins.
Relinquishing what is not mine
For His designs, I know,
Cleanses impure motives,
Reaping the seeds I sow.
Each day is a new beginning,
As I confess my sins;
Another act of forgiveness,
Another chance for wins.
“Reveal to me, dear Lord, I pray,
Anything I hold back
From Your holy service—
I want to stay on track.”
I admit I have no control
(Except given by God)
He alone determines my fate
As I work through this sod.
I want to reject all idols,
Mere time-eating machines;
Computers, T.V.s or gambling,
Excessive to extremes.
Where is my treasure, where my heart
In this world down below?
Is it in things everlasting
Or in the status-quo?
“I hand to You the things I prize,
I yield to You my goals;
Accept them all, they are all Yours;
I sacrifice my soul.”

The rhythm felt a bit off to me in places, but not to the point that it detracted from the entry as a whole.
Great job with this.
