To love and grace attests—
Through his Seed, God’s perfect plan
Redemption through the Son of Man
All nations would be blessed.
From David’s line a King would come
To an eternal throne
King David’s Lord and yet his son
But how could such a thing be done?
Immanuel makes known.
A virgin’s child in bed of straw—
Immanuel as man—
As parents, shepherds gaze in awe
At Him the prophets long foresaw,
This child, God’s perfect plan.
To Israel, His chosen race
Messiah now revealed
In flesh, His love, in Word His grace
Now dwells in His appointed place—
From blinded eyes concealed.
Through grace the love of God unveiled
High on Golgotha’s hill;
There, Christ by wilful men assailed
Crowned with thorns, beaten, nailed—
The Son of Man was killed.
How great the Father’s love for man
In grace is manifest
Transcending all we understand
But planned by Him since time began—
In Him all nations blessed.
He first loved us!—amazing fact!
A marvel to my mind;
The love for God and man we lacked
Supplied in Christ’s redeeming act—
Both love and grace defined.
