Upon the window drums the raindrops,
Chanting soft in harmony;
Above my head in quiet whispers,
Singing lullabyes to me.
Listen to the rainy music,
Singing to me all night long;
Dripping, dropping,
Swishing, swashing,
Rocks me with its cradle song.
A darkened world enfolds around me,
Dimming shadows, daylight flees;
The mournful moan of tempest gusting
Swishing branches of the trees.
A quiet music calls, allures me,
Floating on the rainy moors;
The world fades far from troubled waters,
Drifting off to misty shores.
Listen to the rainy music,
Singing to me all night long;
Dripping, dropping,
Swishing, swashing,
Rocks me with its cradle song.
A haven from the blowing billows,
Tossing me from wave to wave;
Across the land, the wind doth buffet,
Blowing ‘round me, yet I’m safe.
Beneath my mother’s woolen cover,
Snuggled warm in memories;
Beyond the foggy world of daydreams,
Nodding soft on pillowed seas.
Listen to the rainy music,
Singing to me all night long;
Dripping, dropping,
Swishing, swashing,
Rocks me with its cradle song.

Beautiful.
God bless~
I had to get a cup of coffee right after I finished to make sure I didn't nod off. If my kids were little I'd definitely use this to help put them to bed at night (who knows, maybe I will anyway). :)
But it's not just the pace that is praiseworthy. The language is beautiful and so finely and painstakingly crafted. Just an excellent job all the way around.
Great work, poet!
God bless~
