When she unfolds her heart;
The whiplash of an icy wind
May shred her hues apart—
And even if the sun shows favor
Providing a life of ease,
In spite of all her beauty
There are no guarantees
That anyone who’s walking by
Will even be aware
Of the beauty shining at their feet
And the glory that she shares!
’Tis safer just to hide away
And stay off of the stage,
To build a wall around her heart
Like an eagle in a cage—
But birds aren’t meant for cages,
An eagle needs to fly;
The destiny of every flower
Is to taste the open sky!
She may not spend the centuries
Embalmed inside a frame,
But her Father sees her beauty
And cherishes her name—
No matter what the critics say,
No matter what her doom,
Her Father smiles, enchanted,
When his treasure dares to bloom.
