To the grand sites in our dreams;
These are only in our minds,
Trapped inside and there confined.
All the questions that perplex,
And mankind we have not met;
These and more are not discerned,
Riddles never to be learned.
Here we only see in part
Stars and planets on God’s chart.
Many times we are confused;
Queries, meanwhile, are refused;
These are not to be exposed;
Only hinted and supposed.
Many hopes are unfulfilled,
Aches and pains remain unhealed;
These we struggle to fix up,
Drinking yearning’s bitter cup.
Here we only feel in part
Grace bestowed within our hearts.
All ambitions turn to dust,
Yielding consequences just;
These control our attitudes;
Selfishness, sin’s platitude.
All our guilty secrets kept,
To our shame, an unpaid debt;
These are burdens that we bear
For our actions, not repaired.
Here we only know in part;
Only God can see our hearts.
Many things have brought us joy:
Love and laughter, faith that buoys;
These are blessings from above,
Carried on the wings of doves.
Many angels sent by God,
Guarding, keeping, on this sod;
They adhere to His commands:
Penned in love by His own hand.
Here we only seek in part
Secret presents He imparts.
Wars and evil, perils reign;
Death and illness, unconstrained;
Greed and malice, pride and hate;
These and more we duplicate.
Roses bloom beside the thorns:
Children’s smiles and babies born;
Nature’s beauties we behold,
Animals, a thousand-fold.
Here we only view in part;
Joys and sorrows fold apart.
None are spared sin’s bitter gall;
Rain and sunshine fall on all,
Blessings flowing unrestrained
By what mercy He ordains.
Like the tides, life ebbs and flows;
Sometimes high, and sometimes low;
Birth and death and in between,
All is ordered and routine.
Someday heaven will impart
Endless living’s final start.
