When, suddenly, at the perfect moment, Love’s breath blew light to dispel the darkness in an incomprehensible instant, spilling out shadowy contrasts between black and white, night and day, morning and evening.
And it was good.
The silence was interrupted as swirling waters were separated by Love’s whispering breeze, eventually twisting into whipping wind gusts of incredible swells to deviate dewy depths and misty skies. Shades of blue and gray broke out, and, like a gigantic artist’s brush, Love’s breath primed and tinted the universe’s canvas. Gentle lapping waves sounded beneath the quiet mists of the skies now separated by soundless expanse.
And it was good.
All the waters under the sky gathered into oceans upon command so that dry land appeared, Love’s powerful breath blowing across the earth’s surfaces in variegated degrees to create just the right combination of land and sea. Soft and silky water against backdrops of hard and solid land emerged in surprising harmony, green flushes of tincture beside watery blues. Seed-bearing plants of all kinds emerged one at a time, yet all at once, creating a striking fresco of flaming and fading colors. From dainty wildflowers to majestic trees, from fruited vines to flowering bushes, each displayed complete diversity, adding its own unique flavor to the mix. A universal kaleidoscope of perfumes scented the atmosphere to complete nature’s picturesque beauty.
And it was good.
Then the lights divided into separate units of longitude and latitude and were placed in the expanse of the heavens above with twinkling stars playing tag with the moon at night, and the glowing sun revolving to rule the day. And seasons, days and years were determined and set into place as galaxies and planets were spun into the heavens.
And it was good.
Next, Love’s breath begat living creatures to fill the seas. Crabs and minnows, fish and frogs, whales and dolphins and thousands of other species teemed and multiplied at His beckoning, each with vastly complicated life systems never to be replicated exactly the same. Winged creatures came into being, flying through the skies with perfect symmetry of motion, dotting the horizon and perching in trees or hopping on the ground. Simultaneously, the sound of music could be heard as melodic birdsongs trilled through the air with hymns of praise to their Maker. Simple sparrows joined raucous blue jays, crows’ caws harmonizing with doves’ mourning, while pigeons played with sea gulls.
And it was good.
As if this was not enough to express Love’s outpouring, land now produced all other living creatures at His bidding. Livestock, wild animals, and crawling creatures moved and multiplied according to their own kinds. Each species peppered the earth with their varied individual nuances as moos and growls, hisses and peeps, bleats and brays, neighs and barks, meows and roars formed a symphony choir under the direction of Love’s conduction.
All nature then stood on tiptoe awaiting Love’s final blessing upon His creation, the coup de grace of all He had made. From the dust of the ground, Love created man in His own image, and breathed out life and a soul into his nostrils, placing him in charge of all the vegetation and animals He had created during the previous immeasurable days of creation. And when no other created being was found to commune with the man, God created woman out of man’s side to be a helpmate to him, commanding this first couple to multiply and replenish the earth.
And God saw that it was very good, and rested from all His labors.
