relentlessly, as if time itself had no mercy in her heart.
and as we watch, the sands of days gone by,
gather more and more,
in a growing mountain of what will be no more,
some are moments turned to sweet memories,
some are moments turned to sad regrets,
some are moments never lived,
now lost in the winds of what might have been.
oh, the sands that do remain,
they slip away one by one,
in ever hastening pace,
urging me, taunting me, tempting me,
to quicken now this desperate race
to consume the remains of this dying day,
in a frantic way,
to fill this this lingering dusk with all the things i’ve left undone,
but then a breeze blows in from an unseen realm,
as smoke drifts in from a distant fire,
to slow my soul and the glass of sand,
drawing me into that immortal pause
where i once more find that timeless place
that lives among all the mortal moments of our lives,
the place where time becomes eternity.
