Curiosities can be found,
Seashells in the desert
Peek through dry and cracking ground.
As if handling fragile glass
They’re cautiously inspected,
These precious desert finds
Are unearthed and resurrected.
Tides and times that no man knew--
Waters teemed with what was needed,
Seas once buried majestic views
But in due time they receded.
Arizona high desert trails
Captivate a sense of awe,
My mind grabs Kodak moments
Through the wonder of it all.
Hiking on the dusty trail
With a cactus in my lens,
Questions tumble in my brain
Wondering ‘bout the hows and whens.
Were these shells from ancient days
When God sent the worldwide flood,
Then later blew His breath towards earth
Drying restless waters, then the mud?
What other treasures lie beneath
Desert lands in contradiction
With proof of their existence,
But to some it seems like fiction.
God’s presence fills me up
Through miraculous creations,
I lift my head in awesome praise
To the King of all the nations.
Nothing’s impossible for our God
He’s in charge, He’s in control,
The seashells tell that message
Which brings comfort to my soul.
