A week hath seven days;
How I spend each of them
Can often be a maze.
Schedules here, schedules there,
Reminders all around;
Written lists, mental notes
Around me do abound.
MONDAY’s first in my week,
My thoughts are sharp and fresh;
What I do with this day,
A tone sets for the rest.
Attitude is the key
To strengthen my resolve;
Valuing each hour,
Before it all dissolves.
Is my work honoring,
Delivered faithfully?
Does it lend everyone
The grace God’s given me?
After work, I go home
To see my family;
Am I kind, here as well,
Performing patiently?
MOON DAY’s end I proclaim
Successful and complete.
All in all, it is well;
Sweet dreams are my receipt.
TUESDAY dawns with a storm,
And all is gray and dark;
Smiles are gone, all wear frowns,
Exchanging snide remarks.
Moods are bad, tempers flare,
Impatience is the theme;
Feelings raw, they announce,
“'Tis only about ME”!
Things go wrong, nothing’s right,
Complaints are all the rage;
Moods explode and implode,
Destroying patronage.
Home again after work,
I’m negative and stern.
Night-time prayers, guilty pleas,
Forgiveness is affirmed.
Midnight comes, MARS DAY ends
A chapter in my life.
I regret, at its close,
The ones I hurt with strife.
WEDNESDAY comes, bright and clear;
I have another chance:
Righting wrongs, singing songs,
I take a different stance.
Praying now for each one,
I bring them peace and joy.
Bending over backwards
Becomes a better ploy.
Caring for those I know,
Acknowledging their needs;
Ready now to absolve,
My rights I now concede.
Back at home, I can breathe
The same to those I love;
Making peace, praying strong
For strength that’s from above.
MERCURY, at its end,
Shouts out its history:
Day is done, God has won
Through me, a victory!
THURSDAY’s here, my day off,
But not for rest or sleep;
Laundry first, cleaning next,
As under beds I sweep.
Shopping then, is a must,
Our cupboards almost bare;
Aisles crowded, lines are long,
While patrons barter glares.
Four more stops I must make
Before returning back;
Time runs out, errands cease;
My car is full of sacks.
Dinner meal I prepare
And then sit down for grace.
Sharing news, laughter, too:
A family enlaced.
JUPITER closes now,
My busiest so far;
Overspent, I am weak,
And crawl to my boudoir.
Clocks ringing, FRIDAY wakes;
Another day comes forth.
Rested now, I can face
Challenges galore!
In a rush, I must go,
But unexpected switch:
Outfit ripped—can’t repair—
Another wretched hitch.
Quickly now, I depart,
A muffin in my hand;
Going down on the road,
I almost hit a van!
Traffic stops, I’m a mess
And catch my breath in fear;
Bending down, I retrieve
My purse, in second gear!
Crises push through the day,
Until VENUS waves a flag:
It concedes, I give in
As off to bed I drag.
SATURDAY comes to roost,
My sleep is fading fast;
School is closed, kids are home
Their Dad is mowing grass.
Coffee scents recompense
As I crawl out of bed;
Shower cold and some toast
All work to clear my head.
T.V. blares, cell phones ring
As Sis with Brother fights.
I get out baking sheets
For favorite delights.
Afternoon picnic-ers
Soon gather at the park;
We bring in barbecue
And stay ‘til after dark.
Fireworks end the day
With colorful bright lights;
SATURN ebbs, midnight comes,
We all now say “Good-night”.
Sabbath day now appears,
Creation sings its hymns;
Church bells ring while I sing
Duets with cherubim.
Fellowship, as we meet
Together at the church;
Singing psalms, worshiping;
Our heart for sin we search.
Kneeling down, humble prayers
Are lifted up to heaven;
Burdens lift, power shifts,
As our hearts God leavens.
Valuing family,
We share our SUNDAY meal;
Playing games, napping some,
‘Til evening shadows keel.
SUNDAY ends Sabbath rest,
Reviving for tomorrows;
SON-DAY, known as SUNDAY,
Releases all our sorrows.
Seven days hath a week,
A week hath seven days;
Six of them for all men
To live and work and play.
Seventh day is for God,
As we obey His Word;
Honoring, savoring
Each day as it recurs.
