It’s great that I’ll be able
To chat with women of the Word
At God’s great dining table.
I’d like to know if Mother Eve
Would disobey again
If she had known the work she’d have,
As well as childbirth pain.
I’d love to sit with Sarah and
Discuss her pregnancy.
To have a baby at that age
Sounds difficult to me.
With Hannah, I would wonder how
She did not hesitate
To give her firstborn to the Lord,
His service dedicate.
I’d not be so presumptuous
To question Jesus’ mother,
For honor God bestowed on her
Exceeded any other.
I’d love to hear her tales of times
When Jesus was a boy.
To have the rearing of God’s Son
Would be a sacred joy.
As for the woman at the well,
When she'd tell me her story,
I think she’d say forgiveness was
Her first taste of God’s glory.
With Martha, I might make request
For her best recipes,
But Mary, I’d speak heart-to-heart
On how our Lord to please.
I’d want to know from both of them
If either gave a shout
When Jesus called to Lazarus,
And he came walking out.
When I’d see Mary Magdalene,
I’d ask about that day
When she and others first found out
The stone was rolled away.
What great discussions I could have
In heaven’s dining hour
With heroines of Bible times,
Whose lives revealed God’s power.
Together we would worship Him,
The Lord of all creation,
Along with sharing how we’d lived—
Our earthly conversation.
