In that stomach-dropping instant that opens our eyes
with our pants ‘round our ankles, we are caught unaware;
in that kick-ourselves moment when we realize
that the slow-plodding tortoise has beaten the hare.

and a blush turns our face a bright, bright beet red.

because we’ve been caught snoozing in the warm summer sun.

I did not know what a Pantoum was, but figured it out as I read the poem. WOW! That must have taken a lot of time. And it is so true.

Should be a winning spot!

Congratulations. You've tortoise what a pantoum is. If it were set to music, we may also 'hare' it as the Pantoum of the Opera!
