TITLE: In the Beauty of the Night | Previous Challenge Entry

darkness is the queen,
her sable hair adorned by
thousands of glittering diamonds,
and a multitude of souls twinkle and shine
waiting to be recognized,
no longer having to compete
with the brilliance of the sun.
In the stillness of the night
a new chorus is heard,
tiny voices overpowered by
the hustle and bustle of the day,
now break forth in a joyous evensong,
filling the darkness
with their vibrant, pulsating music.
In the darkness of the night
weary minds find rest
as thoughts and dreams slowly drift by
on a river of sleep,
taut muscles loosen their hold
on the day’s stresses,
hearts pump to the gentle rhythm of the earth.
In the shadows of the night
things are not always what they seem,
fear like a fog hovers on the
edge of imagination,
shadows taunt with surreal forms,
tap, tap, tapping with ominous footsteps,
only to be laughed away
in the light of day.
In the blackness of night
a solitary soul cries out in pain,
lost and alone;
rest and peace as elusive as
trying to hold a wisp of smoke,
problems form the peaks of mountains
too high to climb,
while chasms of worry form
dark, bottomless pits.
In the stillness of the night
the voice of God whispers in the dark.
In the shadow of the night,
rest in the shadow of the Lord.
In the blackness of night the Light has come
and darkness cannot quench this Light.
In the beauty of the night
is God.

My favorite stanza was the following:
"In the shadows of the night
