Bounded by ocean and sea.
Exotic salted waters
That easily baffles me.
Arabian Sea to the west
Indian Ocean to the south
Bay of Bengal to the east
I need a map to work it out.
What, pray, is your allure?
What clouds you in mystery?
Your land, your people?
What shrouds you in perplexity?
Your charms foreign yet familiar
Your puzzle beguiles and entice
Black coal be your provider
Hindu wisdom be your life.
Who leads you, India?
What philosophies of men?
Be it both Gandhi and Nehru?
Each a rightfully treasured denizen.
Are such men made to be wise
By choice or design
Was it their accord in you;
That brought peace over time?
Or, Did you see in them
Pathways to civil discord
So they could see you make
Peace mightier then the sword.
Where lies your heart, India
Is the mystery solved there?
Flowing in the waters of the Ganges
Or exhaled in the frigid Himalaya air.
Must I learn Hindi to know you?
Is your Nirvana hidden in honey combs
Secrets veiled behind saris or yogis;
Essence preserved in frescoes, culture and tomes.
The Taj Mahal may hold the key
Built with faith, hope and love
For in these three we all are as one
Each the same to the One above
Yet, you remain an enigma still.
Light upon a blind man’s face
Music to a deaf man's ears
An exotic puzzle of baffling grace.

One tiny thing: Himalaya needs an n at the end to make it an adjective.
I liked the connection you made at the end to God "the One".
