Into the bosom of Thy glorious mind,
And wait in blessed stillness, Breath sublime,
For words Thy Holy Spirit will impart.
So often I have nestled at Thy feet
And in the silence of Thy presence bowed.
I lift my humble thanks that I’m allowed
To write the words You’d have this pen repeat.
Your instrument is all I seek to be,
A cleansed and willing servant for my Lord.
Your pleased and loving smile is my reward
For helping build a kingdom fit for Thee.
Almighty Father, Spirit, Son Divine,
Come fill my heart and soul with all that’s Thine.

The sonnet is a form of poetry that has been used by many of the world's great literary masters. Although rhyme schemes may differ, sonnets are most usually made up of fourteen lines in iambic pentameter (ta dum, ta dum, ta dum, ta dum, ta dum). William Shakespeare used iambic pentameter extensively in his poems and plays because he believed it to be the rhythm most similar to common English speech patterns. Although the sonnet form is not used as much in contemporary poetry, the lyrical beauty of the rhyme and rhythm is truly ageless.
