Translated From Umbrian Italian
I
spoke God’s word
to my sisters
the birds
today
Two trees
clustered by the
roadside on
either side
branches filled with
feathered life
chanting their
love of God
of being
of earthly existence
I left the
path
and my companions
behind
moved by the spirit
to speak
his love and my love
to
their group soul.
I reminded them that
they had freedom
to take wing and fly
and they
and their children
are clothed
and fed
and sheltered
with trees for homes
and rivers for water
Seek to praise God always
for you have no need
of worldly wealth
and possessions
for you are loved greatly
and abundantly blessed
as you neither work in the field
nor carry a load
but sing only
the praises of God
from sun rise to set
For I too am blessed abundantly
wear a covering of brown
have a shelter provided by God
have freedom and am
fed and watered by him
to whom I also sing
my praise of love
for all the world to hear
For love is our meaning in existence
we are created to love one another
in this our life and earthly existence
