During COVID-19, a group of four of us ladies who attended our church decided to meet once a week in the mother's room to discuss what was on our hearts as Christian women and to pray for each other and for our church. We got our Pastor's permission and decided to meet every Friday evening, the night the church would have 'Prayer Meetings.' This shared commitment helped us feel connected and supported during uncertain times.
We started by talking about our family challenges, and as we became transparent, we found reassurance and comfort in knowing we were not alone in our struggles.
Sharing our fears about what was happening in the world and in our own lives helped us feel more connected and supported. We found that creating a safe space for honest conversations, not just prayer, encouraged us to express ourselves freely without shame or fear of judgment.
We prayed together as a group and for each other, bearing one another's burdens in prayer, which strengthened our faith and deepened our sense of community through God's Word: "Bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2 (NKJV). Our shared faith became a source of hope and resilience.
Our openness with each other enhanced God's Glory, and we saw our prayers answered, and we experienced a closer walk with God. We were encouraged by 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NKJV), "While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things that are not seen are eternal."
Looking back, we were now a group of five ladies, and one of us was not transparent. Her hesitation was apparent, and at times she was obviously uncomfortable. Her behavior hindered the genuine connection and support we shared.
Overall, we were enriched and blessed by the experience and time spent together as a group during COVID-19.
We gave God all the Glory.
"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and Glory for ever and ever. Amen." 1 Timothy 1:17 (NKJV).
