to man and woman
given by God
Charity comes
in all shapes and sizes
Out of supreme love
of the purest form
God created Adam
and Eve
in His glorious image
Not only did He create us
but when we fall
He came to rescue us
by sending
His only Son
Charity is indeed
God’s many-facet splendour
It is kind patient and gentle
it is forgiving
and keeps no records of wrongs
Charity is sacrificial
like Jacob enduringly toiled
for seven years
to marry Rachael
his first love
Charity indeed envies not
but develops into genuine friendship
like David and Jonathan
overcoming Saul’s jealousy
and life’s threat
Jesus is indeed
the greatest unmerited love
that God dispenses
to us
who are truly undeserving
May I not rejoice
in the wrongs
or delight in the sufferings
of others
but always trust hope and reconcile
Spirit of the living God
breathe in me
and draw my heart to
whatever is true, noble, right
and above all the most charitable
