“Hello, who am I talking with this morning?”
“Hi Mr. Fred. This is Jeremy. I’m six years old. I want to tell you about my dog. My dad and I took my puppy Mazzi for a walk. We had her on a leash. I was runnin’ behind her when I tripped and fell and let go of Mazzi. She took off runnin’ and we couldn’t catch her. I hurted my knee and it was bleedin’. My dad helped me up and then we went runnin’ after Mazzi but she was gone. We looked all over the neighborhood and couldn’t find her. I cried all the way home. Dad said “don’t worry son, we’ll find her”, but I wasn’t so sure. We made up fliers and put them around. Two days later a lady calls us and says “I got your dog.” Dad and I got in the car and went to see and sure enough, there was Mazzi, sittin’ on this lady’s porch eating doggie snacks like she belonged there. She was a kind lady and treated Mazzi good. I hugged her for takin’ such good care of my dog. She said “bring Mazzi by anytime to visit, and for more doggie snacks.” Well, that’s all Mr. Fred.”
“Thank you, Jeremy. That is an a-mazzi-ing story. Do we have another caller.”
“Good morning, who am I talking to?”
“Mr. Fred, this is Angela. Let me share with you what happened this morning. I was at the grocery store picking up a few things for dinner. My daughter was coming over for the evening. Since my social security check wasn’t due for another few days, I was short on cash, but thought I had enough to make a spaghetti dinner. As I was standing in the check-out line, there was this nice gentleman ahead of me paying for his groceries. He continued to talk with the cashier as I put my items on the belt for her to scan. When she scanned the last time, and totaled my bill, this gentleman did something that blew me away. He paid for my groceries! I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I said “why did you do that?” He said, “Because I can. Someday you can pay-it-forward too. Have a wonderful day madam.” He doesn’t know how wonderful my day turned out to be.”
“Truly an act of charity. We have time for one more caller.”
“Welcome to WJKP, who is this?”
“This is Jessie, Mr. Fred. Let me start by saying I am a changed woman because of the charity of someone named Patti. For many years I lived on the street. I would go from one shelter to another. From one food pantry to another. It was a horrible way to live, yet I had no choice. I was kicked out of my home at age eighteen and my life went downhill from there. I was sitting on a park bench wondering what to do when Patti came and sat beside me. We started talking. I told her my life story (why I did that I don’t know) but the next thing I know she takes me to Ralph’s Diner for a meal, then drives me to My Fathers House, a home for broken women. I stayed there six months, and that’s where my life changed. I found Jesus. Today I’m working, have my own apartment, and volunteer at the House. I thank God for Rosie’s love, but most of all I thank Jesus for his love.”
“Thanks Jessie. Scripture says; “Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
