cars credit cards
condominiums
all the worldly wealth
that appeals
In younger days
I chased after things
that don’t last
neither do they satisfy
or fulfil my deepest needs
They buy me people
but not friends
buy me beds
but not sleep
shallow and temporal indeed
It is a dream
prevalent here
and everywhere
but now they have
taken a back seat
Now I desire meaning
purpose
community
in life more than
all these
I finally meet the Man
at the well
in Galilee
He offers me Living Water
and I will never thirst again
I want to feast
in the abundance of His house
drink from the fountain of life
the water of delight
only He can provide
Lord
I constantly struggle with temptations
coming from the world
keeping up with the Jones
in my earthly dreams and desires
May the gravity
of material things be lightened
and the relativity of time slow down
so that I may have more time
to pursue things that please You
Sanctify my imagination
that I may dream
glorious dreams
about things
that money cannot buy
Into Your mighty hands
I commit to You
all my dreams
Help me build these dreams
on the Solid Rock I pray
