Think hard on it, in whatever way
You look at Brunch, it doesn’t hold sway
Over a good old breakfast tray!
A soothing cup of piping hot tea
Or a mug of sweet, milky coffee
With a buttered toast and fried eggie
Would make the morning cobwebs flee.
There’s clearly more to that morning rite,
It not only starts your day aright
But serves as pause for a brief respite
Before the entire day is in sight.
Neither here nor there, I have to say,
Think hard on it, in whatever way
You look at Brunch, it doesn’t hold sway
Over a wholesome midday meal tray!
A bowl of rice with veggie stir fry
Or a sandwich, grilled chicken on rye,
For a busy day, makes the best ally
An extra zest? Add a slice of pie.
Does a lunch not spike a dull noon-break?
Staves off more than a hunger-headache
At work or school, may new friendships make
Pray, toss it not, there’s a lot at stake.
Neither here nor there, I dare say,
Think hard on it, in whatever way
You look at Brunch, it holds no sway
Over a healthy lunch or breakfast tray!
