I stand on the shore watching the scene play out before me. Wrapping my arms around myself, I shiver from the sudden cold, from the shock of what I'm seeing.
Things had been going so well. The calmness of my life is now chaotic, as I battle the frigid waters around me, the waves threatening to take me under by unhealthy choices I've made; sucking the very life out of me.
If I don't do something my life will spiral out of control; the joy I've felt, flying away on the wind. It's been a false joy, based on my progress, my success. The subtle way pride entered in like a stealthy cat on silent paws is becoming clear.

Jesus, please, help me.
The scene before me changes, the water rising up into a majestic tower made of impenetrable stone.

I run into the tower knowing it is a refuge from the storm that my choices and actions have created. I recall a verse, The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.
The Lord's strength restores me, saves me, helps me, even though I have made wrong choices. I fall to my knees, tears of repentance and at the same time, joy, real joy, well up in my eyes, spilling down my cheeks. Another verse comes to mind ....the kingdom of God.... is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
