He, who
‘Stretched out the heavens’ in splendor
And ‘flung countless stars into space,
Who ‘Laid, of earth, the foundation’
And deep springs we cannot trace.
Whose wondrous word brought to being
Surging oceans and wild blue skies,
Mountains majestic, reflecting
A radiant spectrum of light,
...should assume human nature in a virgin’s womb?
He, who
Fashioned the ‘storehouses of snow’
And, by wisdom, can ‘number the clouds’
Who ‘Tilts the waterskins of the heavens’
But commands the sea to ‘know its bounds’
Who does provide ‘prey for the raven’
‘Gives the horse’ its mane and ‘its might’
Spurs the eagles to soar the skies,
Directs the geese in migratory flight,
...should assume human nature in a virgin’s womb?
He, who,
Enthroned as the ‘Ancient of days’
Unwrinkled by ages or time,
‘By heaven of heavens, uncontained’
Is infinite in wisdom, sublime.
The One who ‘inhabits eternity’
For whose pleasure all things were made,
What marvel of marvels, incomprehensible,
That, for the cross, His throne did trade!
